“Dreamy” is being released as a two-track digital single of sorts because Comfy was offered the unique opportunity of recording a couple of songs at a local state-of-the-art studio. Putting these two beautifully recorded and produced songs on an album with our other material that’s been recorded in our houses just didn’t seem right.
“People Talking” is one of the first songs I wrote for Comfy (we played it at our first show), but I never knew how to record it, being that it relies heavily on the improvisational quality of its live performance. I decided to record it here because we were allowed to record two songs at Big Blue, and I didn’t have two new ones.
“Dreamy” was the most recent song I had written at the time when we recorded these songs. It’s a song about a very special person, and we worked really hard on putting together a full-band version of it (the original demo is a slow and unforgivably out of tune ballad).
In this way, “Dreamy” will act as a sort of set of bookends on either side of Pillowhugger and the upcoming Comfy EP. I guess that means we’re releasing stuff out of order, like a Tarantino flick or something. It will be a nice way of closing this chapter of songs so I can work on finishing up this next batch. Stay tuned, kids. And thanks for listening!
