I’m doing the same thing that I did yesterday and I’m wondering why everything is a single shade of grey. Perhaps the wolves are all at bay, but now I’ve got no excuses for walking the same route until my shoes are full of holes. My pants split, clothes don’t fit. I’m shopping for new ones online, and waiting til I find a guy who looks like one I want to be. I never saw a picture of myself. Everyone else was talking so loud. The words they said were unfamiliar. Music deafening, a song I never heard. I look to the past and I see the pictures of my friends. We’re younger and dumber, some things I still don’t understand. But where was I among the crowd? Everyone was talking so loud. I was too busy looking back then to see what was going on. I open my eyes and I’m laying in bed next to you. The future uncertain, but better than mourning my youth. I’ll wear a different shirt today, write a new song and play it until it’s something to say.
